I know both sides of the problem: as an indie artist, I'm constantly at the mercy of mainstream platforms and their algorithms. As someone who actively looks for new art, those same platforms are terrible for discovery: they tend to push what's already popular instead of what actually matches my interests.
So I decided to do something about it and created Gallry. Artists shouldn't have to become content creators just to be discovered , and finding interesting independent work shouldn't mean digging through an endless feed of things you never asked to see.
I'm building the place I wanted to use myself: one where artists are treated with respect and don't have to waste unnecessary time marketing themselves just to satisfy a moody algorithm, and where people looking for art can actually discover hidden independent gems.
